Nigerian Army, NCTC To Jointly Step Up Fight Against Terrorism, Vandalism

The Nigerian Army has pledged to close ranks with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) to boost the ongoing counter-terrorism effort and protection of critical national assets in the country.

The collaboration was reaffirmed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, during the visit of the Coordinator National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Major General Adamu Laka at the Army Headquarters Abuja.

A statement signed by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu General Lagbaja, said the move was part of measures to strengthen national security, adding that the partnership became imperative in the face of the threat posed by acts of terrorism and national assets vandalism in parts of the country.

“It is important we continue to find ways to enhance our operations by improving our strategies to tackle the evolving threat of terrorism. We will continue to work together to ensure the safety and security of our nation and her critical assets,” he stated.

The National Coordinator of the Counter Terrorism Centre Major General Adamu Laka briefed the Army Chief on the latest developments in the centre’s counter-terrorism efforts.

He expressed gratitude for the collaboration, highlighting the necessity of an integrated approach to counter-terrorism efforts.

“Together, we will enhance our capabilities and response strategies, ensuring that we are prepared to confront any challenges that may arise,” he posited.

The Coordinator lauded the COAS for his visionary leadership, noting that “the COAS has been a key player in the fight against terrorism, who has always strongly advocated for a multi-faceted approach to tackling terrorism, and ever willing to support the Center’s initiatives.”

He stressed that the support of the COAS for the centre has been invaluable.
