Olorogun Oskar Ibru, chairman of the Ibru Organisation and a leading figure in Nigeria’s business community, has died at the age of 67.
His family confirmed his passing on Wednesday, stating that he died after a brief illness, though details of the illness were not disclosed.
Ibru, a son of the late business tycoon Olorogun Michael Ibru, played a key role in sustaining and expanding the family’s conglomerate, which spans shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and trade. His death comes nearly nine years after the loss of the Ibru patriarch in 2016.
The business mogul was regarded as both a respected corporate leader and a known socialite. His contributions helped maintain the influence of the Ibru dynasty in Nigeria’s economic and social circles.
The family is expected to release funeral arrangements in the coming days. Tributes have already begun pouring in from associates and friends, many of whom remembered him as a warm and approachable personality who left a lasting impression in both business and social life.
