Executive Director of Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) Dr Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji has been honoured with the Women in Mining Award 2025 at the Resourcing Tomorrow Outstanding Achievement Awards in London — marking a defining moment for African leadership and women empowerment in the global mining sector.
This was announced in a statement signed by Dr Antonia Nebo, Director of Operations and Secretariat Services,
Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa).
She emerged winner among six exceptional finalists including Amanda Lacaze (Lynas Rare Earths), Laura Tyler (Adriatic Metals), Ingrid Hibbard (Pelangio Exploration), Michelle Keegan (Atrico/Robopalooza) and Ria Sanz (Marlow Global).
Dr Asokoro-Ogaji dedicated the award to mining host communities and women across Africa, reaffirming the need for equitable development, beneficiation, policy advocacy, and value-driven partnerships in critical minerals.
“This win is for African women in mining, for host communities sustaining global industries, and for every woman whose work builds this sector even when unseen,” she said.
The Women in Ming champion leads transformation across 36+ African countries, driving the development of the WiM-Africa Institute for Leadership & Sustainable Mining and beneficiation laboratories aimed at strengthening women-led value addition and research capacity on the continent.
