Nigerians in Diaspora Commission to Host Investment Workshop in Kano
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) is set to host a sensitization and advocacy workshop in Kano, focused on promoting diaspora investment in NorthWest Nigeria.

The event, scheduled to take place on January 30-31, 2025, at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, aims to engage and mobilize Nigerians in the diaspora to contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of the nation.

According to NiDCOM, the workshop will provide a platform for insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and the exploration of viable investment prospects in the Northwest region.

The event will feature a keynote paper presented by renowned Investment Promotion Specialist, Byron ISI. Byron ISI, a Federal Government Certified International Conference Speaker and Country Director of FCMLI Africa, emphasized the importance of diaspora investment in driving economic growth.

“Diaspora investment has the potential to unlock new opportunities for economic development in Nigeria,” he said. “By leveraging the expertise, resources, and networks of Nigerians in the diaspora, we can drive innovation, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in the Northwest region and beyond.”

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, highlighted the commission’s commitment to engaging and mobilizing Nigerians in the diaspora. “We believe that the diaspora community has a critical role to play in Nigeria’s development, and we are committed to providing platforms for them to contribute,” she said.

The workshop is expected to attract stakeholders from the Northwest region, including state governments, private sector operators, and diaspora organizations. NiDCOM has invited the Governor of Kano to host the event and has requested a courtesy visit to discuss areas of collaboration.

The event will also provide an opportunity for Nigerians in the diaspora to connect with local businesses, policymakers, and other stakeholders, with a view to exploring investment opportunities and contributing to the development of the Northwest region.

Byron ISI, who will deliver the keynote paper, is a multi-disciplinary thought leader and published author of eight international book titles. He is currently the Country Director of FCMLI Africa, a global management and leadership institute, and serves as Technical Adviser to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industrial Training and Development.

His expertise in investment promotion, economic development, and diaspora engagement is expected to provide valuable insights and perspectives for participants at the workshop.

As Nigeria continues to seek ways to diversify its economy and drive sustainable development, the role of diaspora investment is becoming increasingly important. The NiDCOM workshop in Kano is a critical step towards harnessing the potential of Nigerians in the diaspora to contribute to the country’s development.

With its rich cultural heritage, vast natural resources, and entrepreneurial spirit, Nigeria is poised for greatness. The NiDCOM workshop in Kano is an opportunity for Nigerians in the diaspora to connect with their roots, explore investment opportunities, and contribute to the country’s development.
