The Registrar/CEO of Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) , Henry Mbadiwe has lauded the Institute’s seven 7-year-old transformational journey. This is as Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, calls for Deeper collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and CIPM.
The 2025 Mid-Year Induction and Training Programme which gets underway in Abuja, today, 24 June, 2025 marks a turning point for new inductees, according to Mbadiwe.
“This event marks a watershed in the life of our Institute and in the professional careers of our newest inductees,” Mbadiwe stated. He emphasised that the inductees’ admission into the fold of certified and licensed professionals marked the beginning of a new chapter in their careers, guided by discipline, integrity, professionalism, and continuous learning.
The programme’s theme, “Project Management Practices – A Guarantee of Sustained Growth in this Digital Age,” stressed the critical role project management plays in driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainable development.
Mbadiwe noted that project management is no longer a niche discipline but the backbone of successful governance, corporate performance, infrastructure delivery, and technological advancement across sectors.
He also scored the CIPMN high in its seven-year institutionalization journey, expressing confidence in the Institute’s continued growth and impact. As Nigeria prioritizes infrastructure development and technological advancement, the demand for skilled project managers is likely to grow, making initiatives like the CIPMN’s induction program crucial for the industry’s future.
In a goodwill message, Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, represented by Air Commodore Sylvester Eyoma, congratulated the inductees, noting that the Chief of Air Staff is a proud member of CIPMN.
“The theme of the induction ceremony, “Project Management Practice: A Guarantee of Sustained Growth in the Digital Age,” was described as apt and intriguing. According to Eyoma, “The theme positions project management as the solution to the challenges of growth and development in the digital age.”
The Chief of Air Staff’s representative emphasised the importance of project management in today’s digital environment, stating that “having strong project management practices is not optional, but essential for achieving continuous business growth.” He added that project management enables organizations to harness digital opportunities reliably and repeatedly to obtain sustainable growth.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully adopted project management practices to maximise returns on investment and optimise resource allocation. He stressed the potential for collaboration between the NAF and CIPMN, including developing specialised military-focused project management certification programs and creating a customised military project management framework.
The NAF is open to deepening its strategic partnerships with CIPMN to enhance project management capabilities across military operations, projects, and strategic planning. Eyoma commended CIPMN for fostering excellence in project management and providing a platform for professionals to exchange knowledge and refine skills, Eyoma added.
With professional development and certification in project management gaining importance, institutions like the Nigerian Institute of Production Management (NIPM) offer various training programs to equip professionals with necessary skills. These programs cover topics such as production management, operations planning, and strategic operations management.
