The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has said that within the last 7 days, it uncovered at least 83 illegal refineries and 15 illegal pipeline connections in the Niger Delta.
The NNPCL made this known on Tuesday, via its X handle.
“In the past week, 15 illegal pipeline connections and 83 illegal refineries have been uncovered in the Niger Delta.

“83 illegal connections were spotted in Rivers, Abia, Imo and Bayelsa states”, the company said.
It further said that 211 occurrences of oil theft and vandalism were recorded between 6th and 12th January, 2024.
