Nwoko’s defection ‘ll revolutionalise Delta political landscape-Clergy

By Deborah Coker

Abuja, Feb. 1, 2025 Rev. Joseph Ugochukwu, President, Potter’s Place Group International, says Sen. Ned Nwoko’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will revolutionise  the political landscape in Delta.

This is contained in a statement by Ugochukwu and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, on Saturday.

NAN reports that Nwoko on Friday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), after weeks of speculation surrounding his membership of PDP.

He had stated that his decision to resign from PDP was due to the deep divisions within the party at the state and national levels.

He said the situation  made it  difficult to foster unity and advance the collective interest of the people of the state.

Reacting Ugochukwu, also the National Coordinator, Anioma Freedom Seekers, said that with Nwoko defection the 25-year dominance of the PDP in the state had come to an end.

He described Nwoko’s move to the APC as bold and historic, adding that “this seismic shift in the state’s political terrain has sent tremors throughout the nation, marking the beginning of a new era of progressive leadership”.

According to him, with all three senators from Delta now proudly flying the APC flag, the PDP’s grip on the state has been effectively broken.

“The Anioma people, in particular, have rallied behind Nwoko, embracing the wise Nigerian adage, ‘Follow who knows road’.

“This phrase encapsulates the sentiment that a wise person should follow a wise leader, and Sen. Nwoko’s courageous leadership has earned him the admiration and trust of his constituents.”

Ugochukwu said that as a visionary leader the lawmaker had consistently demonstrated his commitment to the welfare and advancement of the Delta North’s interests.

“His defection to the APC is a testament to his unwavering dedication to his people and his desire to create a brighter future for them.

“As Delta embarks on this transformative journey one that is clear is that Nwoko is leading the charge and the people are proudly following. The future looks bright and the possibilities are endless,” he said.
