Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra, has laid the blame for the ongoing turmoil within the Labour Party squarely on the government led by President Bola Tinubu. In an interview with Arise TV on Monday, Obi pointed to remarks made by Labour Party chairman Julius Abure as evidence of internal strife, claiming they reflect a broader issue.
When questioned about his inability to resolve the party’s conflicts, Obi attributed the Labour Party’s challenges to the instability created by the current administration. “This is the reality we face in Nigeria, a nation rife with propaganda and deceit. These issues are orchestrated by the present government,” he stated.
In response to a request for proof of his accusations against Tinubu’s government, Obi highlighted Abure’s derogatory comment referring to Abia State Governor Alex Otti as a “dwarf.” “I shouldn’t have to explain further. When the chairman of a party resorts to name-calling, it undermines our strength and unity,” Obi remarked.
He continued, “We exist in an environment filled with falsehoods, creating discord even within families. I have successfully built businesses domestically and abroad, and I left them thriving. I have earned my reputation through hard work.”
As the leadership struggle within the Labour Party intensifies, Abure and Otti have engaged in a contentious exchange of words.
