Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured orphans in the state of hope and support, emphasizing that they are not alone as long as they have faith in God.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony of the Governor Ododo Orphan Students Care (GOOS-Care) initiative in Lokoja on Sunday,
“You are not orphans as far as we have God Almighty,” he said.
The program, organized by the Kogi State Forum of Local Government Special Assistants, aims to provide welfare and educational support to orphaned students across the state.
According to a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser, Ismaila Isah, Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring no child in the state feels abandoned or forgotten due to the loss of their parents or financial constraints.
The governor urged beneficiaries to maintain self-belief and resist emotional setbacks.
He praised the Forum of Local Government Special Assistants for their grassroots-focused efforts, describing the initiative as evidence of his administration’s success in prioritizing people-centered governance.
“What you are doing here today shows we never made any mistake in our decisions because this government is for the people,” Ododo said.
He further emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in governance, stating, “What we are doing now may not be fully appreciated today, but its value will be evident in the future.”
In his remarks, the Auditor General for Local Government in Kogi State, Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, commended the forum for bridging the gap between the government and grassroots communities.
He urged beneficiaries to maximize the resources provided and called for the program’s sustainability to enhance education and grassroots development.
