Governor Bassey Otu has congratulated Cross River born Commissioner of Police Ofem Ikpi Arikpo on his elevation, describing the achievement as well deserved and a source of pride to the state.

The Governor made the commendation following a reception held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, describing Arikpo as a disciplined and dedicated officer whose career has been defined by integrity and professionalism.

He said Arikpo’s promotion within the Nigeria Police Force is the result of years of hard work and commitment to duty, adding that it reinforces the belief that diligence and integrity are always rewarded.

Governor Otu also praised the Ugep community for recognising one of their own, noting that such gestures inspire young people to strive for excellence and uphold values of service to humanity.

Highlighting Arikpo’s background, the Governor pointed to his academic and professional training in Calabar and at the University of Uyo, as well as his formation at the Nigeria Police Academy.

He further noted Arikpo’s operational experience, including his command of multiple Mobile Police Squadrons across Kebbi, Ogoni, Katsina and Borno States, describing it as a reflection of courage and leadership.

The Governor also referenced his administrative roles as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration and Finance in Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa States, where he said Arikpo demonstrated competence and sound judgment.

He congratulated the police chief on his elevation and urged him to remain committed to professionalism and excellence in the service of the nation.
