Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to revolutionizing healthcare by improving infrastructure and guaranteeing accessible, high-quality services for all residents.
This pledge was made on Wednesday in Ikere Ekiti during the commissioning of a cutting-edge medical laboratory at the State Specialist Hospital. The facility, named the Grace Oluyede Medical Laboratory in honor of his mother, was donated by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
Represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, the Governor underscored that precise diagnosis is the cornerstone of effective medical treatment. The new laboratory is equipped with specialized departments, including Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Histopathology, and Medical Microbiology, positioning it to deliver a comprehensive array of diagnostic services crucial for patient care.
Commending Gen. Oluyede for his significant contribution, Governor Oyebanji highlighted the immediate benefits for the community. “With this building now in place at the Specialist Hospital, Ikere Ekiti, residents of this community and neighboring towns will have improved access to essential diagnostic services,” he stated.
“Patients will no longer need to travel long distances for many specialized laboratory investigations. This means quicker diagnosis, more effective treatment, and ultimately better health outcomes.”
The Governor framed the donation as more than just an infrastructure project, calling it a profound investment in the well-being of the people. “This event represents a meaningful investment in the health, dignity, and future of our citizens,” he remarked. “Acts like this remind us that development is strongest when government and citizens work together.”
He concluded by reaffirming the central role of healthcare in his administration’s agenda. “Healthcare remains one of the top priorities of this administration. Our goal has always been clear: to build a health system that is accessible, reliable, and capable of meeting the needs of our people wherever they live in Ekiti State.”
