Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has joined Nigerians and the global literary community in celebrating the birthday of renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Obi marked the occasion through a message shared on his official Facebook page, where he described the novelist as a woman whose works have shaped literature and inspired millions of readers across the world. He noted that her writings have carried the stories of Nigeria with dignity while also opening doors for younger generations of writers to grow in confidence and creativity.
According to Obi, Adichie has consistently used her novels, essays, and workshops to encourage young people to think deeply, dream with courage, and use the power of words to drive change in society. He also drew attention to her humility, recalling how she returned to her alma mater to honour her teachers, which reflected her respect for her roots and the people who shaped her journey.
Obi described her as both a sister and a source of inspiration for millions of people, praying that she continues to find strength and joy in her work.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie remains one of Nigeria’s most respected literary voices, with award-winning books such as Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, and Americanah, which have gained international recognition and established her as one of the leading figures in contemporary literature.
