The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, has emphasised the need for continuous education and digital innovation to strengthen healthcare delivery.
The community pharmacists also seek to expand their roles beyond traditional drug dispensing.
This formed the focus of discussions at the 2026 Continuing Education Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, where experts highlighted the intersection of education, technology, and patient-centred care.
A statement signed by ACPN on Sunday, said the conference was titled, “Titled, “Advancing community pharmacy practice through technology, collaboration and expanded services.”
Chairman of ACPN Lagos, Tolulope Ajayi, described the conference as a critical platform for capacity building and professional development.
“The Continuing Education Conference is the flagship programme of the association. It is organised to give pharmacists the opportunity to upskill, improve their knowledge, and enhance the quality of services they provide,” he said.
According to him, continuous learning remains central to improving healthcare outcomes, noting that the forum also fosters collaboration among healthcare stakeholders.
“It provides a platform for pharmacists to come together, learn, share experiences, and discuss ways to improve healthcare delivery.
“Collaboration is key because everyone in the health sector is concerned about outcomes,” he added.
Ajayi stressed that pharmacy practice has evolved significantly, with pharmacists now playing broader clinical roles.
“Pharmacy practice has gone beyond dispensing medicines. Pharmacists are involved in counselling, consultation, immunisation, and other clinical services.
