The Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has commenced the screening exercise for applicants in the 2025/2026 police constable recruitment.
The exercise officially began on Monday in Calabar as the Commissioner of Police in the state, Rashid Afegbua, received members of the screening team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Victor Bekep at the Officers’ Mess on Moore Road.
Speaking during the event, the police commissioner urged the screening team to carry out their assignment with diligence, professionalism and transparency. He assured them that the command, in collaboration with the Cross River State Government, would provide the necessary support to ensure the exercise is conducted smoothly.
Afegbua also observed the screening process and emphasized the need for fairness throughout the recruitment exercise.
Addressing the applicants, the team leader, Bekep, advised the candidates to remain orderly and disciplined during the screening. He stressed that the recruitment process is strictly merit based and that only candidates who meet the required standards would advance to the next stage.
He warned applicants not to pay money to anyone promising to influence the recruitment process, noting that the exercise is free and transparent.
The command urged candidates to report any individual demanding money or making fraudulent promises through the Police Complaint Response Unit in Cross River State.
The screening exercise is scheduled to run from March 9 to April 18, 2026.
