The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, the caretaker chairman (CTC) of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State.
SP William Aya, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Saturday morning in Lokoja.
He stated that Michael was kidnapped last night near Kogi State University along the Kabba-Okene Road in Kabba.
“Yes, I received the information. The Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, has already deployed officers for a search and rescue mission. We are on top of the situation,” Aya said.
Sources indicate that Michael was abducted along with some of his aides on Kabba-Okene Road. The victims were reportedly kidnapped by unidentified gunmen while inspecting ongoing security building projects in the area.
Authorities are seeking any credible information that could assist in their safe rescue. “We urge everyone to pray for their immediate and safe release and to seek divine intervention and protection during this critical time,” a source added.
Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kabba/Bunu LGA in the Kogi State Local Government elections scheduled for October this year.
