Police Denies SARS Return, Insists Unit Remains Dissolved
The Nigeria Police Force has issued a statement debunking rumors of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad’s (SARS) return with reformed rules. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, SARS remains dissolved, as announced on October 11, 2020 .
“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is not back in operation,” Adejobi emphasised. He cautioned Nigerians to treat recent information about SARS reformation and rules of engagement with skepticism, urging them to verify sources before accepting information as true.
To combat misinformation, the police advised citizens to follow their official social media handles, including @PoliceNG on X, @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram.
Adejobi stressed that safety and awareness are paramount, encouraging Nigerians to “stay informed and vigilant.”
