The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation into a viral video that allegedly shows students of Excel College, Ejigbo, smoking, drinking, and dancing inside a hostel.
The video, believed to have been recorded in April 2025 but only circulated online recently, has caused outrage among parents and education stakeholders who described the behavior as troubling and unacceptable.
Following the development, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti to take over the matter from the Ejigbo Police Division, which had earlier questioned the principal of the school.
According to police sources, the principal, who also owns the school, explained that the students captured in the video had already graduated. He further noted that the school is working with investigators to provide clarity on the incident.
While the probe continues, the police urged school authorities, parents, and guardians to pay closer attention to the upbringing of children and to instill moral values and discipline both at home and in schools. The Command assured that it remains focused on ensuring peace, order, and safety across the state.
