In a statement issued on February 27, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said the child, identified as Magdalena Bassey Oku, was found within the Adiabo area of 8 Miles under the Ika Omini Division.
According to the police, the girl is dark in complexion, speaks Efik and English fluently and is originally from Akwa Ibom State. She has no tribal marks. Preliminary findings indicate that both of her parents are deceased.
The Command disclosed that the child had reportedly been living around Adiabo where she sought shelter in market stalls and churches.

The Command appealed to members of the public with useful information about her relatives to contact the Divisional Police Officer, the Police Public Relations Officer or report to the nearest police station.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and ensuring that the child is reunited with her family.
