Police Zone 6 Rolls Out Activities for 2026 National Police Day

By Abasi Ita

The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 6 Command in Calabar, has commenced preparations for the 2026 National Police Day with a lineup of activities aimed at strengthening public engagement and promoting effective policing.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the zone, AIG Auwal Musa Mohammad, who unveiled the itinerary, said the command is fully prepared for the nationwide celebration scheduled for April 7. He noted that the theme for this year’s event, “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” reflects the police commitment to deepening collaboration with the public.

He explained that the celebration will highlight the importance of community policing, honour fallen officers, and showcase the operational strength and professionalism of the force. All state commands under Zone 6, he added, have been mobilised to ensure active participation.

Activities will commence on Monday, March 30, with sanitation and environmental cleaning exercises, alongside medical outreach programmes in selected locations.

A walkathon to promote public awareness and interaction with residents will hold on Tuesday, March 31, starting from the Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar.

On Wednesday, April 1, the command will conduct sensitisation campaigns on electoral violence, cultism and other security concerns, as well as educate motorists on safe driving practices.

Stakeholder meetings and the presentation of financial support to families of deceased officers are scheduled for Thursday, April 2.

The weeklong activities will culminate in a grand finale in Abuja on April 7, featuring a ceremonial parade and tactical display.

Mohammad called on residents to support the police throughout the celebration, while urging officers to remain professional and committed to building public trust. He reaffirmed the command’s dedication to accountable and people centred policing.
