The 88-year-old pontiff, who was admitted on Friday, is expected to remain hospitalized longer than initially planned.
Due to his condition, the Vatican announced that the Jubilee audience set for Saturday, February 22, will not hold.
A senior clergyman will also take his place for Sunday’s Mass.
It is unclear whether he will deliver the Angelus prayer, which he missed last weekend.
Pope Francis has been struggling with various health issues in recent years, including hernia and colon surgeries.
He also relies on a wheelchair due to knee pain.
Doctors recently confirmed that he has a polymicrobial respiratory infection, prompting adjustments to his treatment.
His condition remains stable, with no fever, and he continues to follow medical advice.
Despite his health struggles, the pope has maintained an active schedule, including international travels.
While he has previously stated that resignation is an option if his health prevents him from performing his duties, he has not indicated any plans to step down.
