According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Broda Shaggy was initially rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State for emergency treatment.

“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t have details on how it happened yet, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital,” the source explained.

Medical personnel at Blooming Care Hospital administered first aid upon his arrival. However, further investigations by reveal that he was subsequently transferred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ikeja, Lagos, where he is currently recuperating.

Attempts by Journalists to reach representatives from both hospitals for comment were unsuccessful. Calls placed to the contact numbers listed on their official social media pages went unanswered, and a text message sent to them had not received a response as of the time of this report.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the development on Thursday. Its spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, stated that the police were alerted by the hospital where the skit maker was first treated.

“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was the skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy,” Ms. Adebisi said.

“He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” she added.

When contacted for clarification, the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the incident was not formally reported to the police in the state. “The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it was not reported,” he said.

Efforts to reach the comedian’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, also known as Penzaar, were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone were not answered and a text message remained unreplied.
