A private jet crash at Fes Sais International Airport in Morocco has left four people injured after the aircraft skidded off the runway and slammed into a perimeter wall.
All occupants on board survived the Friday afternoon accident, which is now under investigation by aviation authorities.
The aircraft, a Hawker 800XPi, had taken off from Marrakesh Menara Airport earlier that day. As it attempted to land in Fes around 4:10 pm local time, it veered off runway 09 and collided with the airport boundary. The jet was being operated by Air Ocean Maroc, a local company specializing in private charters and medical transport.
Weather conditions at the time of landing were reported to be clear with light crosswinds. The runway itself, stretching 10,500 feet, is designed to handle medium-sized jets, making the crash particularly alarming given the favorable visibility and wind.
Footage from the scene showed emergency responders working quickly to control the aftermath, spraying water over the jet’s wreckage, which was left severely damaged. The plane was destroyed in the crash, but no fire was reported.
The three crew members sustained injuries of varying severity, along with one person on the ground. All four were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. None of the injuries were reported to be life-threatening.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the runway excursion. Officials from the Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics assured the public that steps are being taken to examine the circumstances of the crash and reinforce flight safety measures moving forward.
While the crash is a rare incident for Moroccan aviation, it raises fresh concerns about landing safety and operational protocols for private jets in the region. Further details will be released as investigators analyze flight data and pilot communications.
