The Sokoto State Government has reassured retired civil servants that their gratuity payments will be disbursed despite recent complaints about delays. Umar Tambuwal, chairman of the committee overseeing the process and the state’s Accountant General, addressed the concerns, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring all eligible retirees receive their entitlements.
Tambuwal explained that funds are typically approved for disbursement immediately after beneficiaries complete the mandatory screening process. However, he acknowledged that some retirees, particularly those residing far from the state capital, might encounter delays in receiving payment alerts.
“We understand the frustrations of those affected, but we are working to ensure that all payments are processed promptly,” Tambuwal stated.
He assured retirees that the committee is addressing these challenges and urged patience as efforts to streamline the payment system continue.
