Refugees Commission Empowers 150 IDPs in Kano

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has empowered 150 resettled Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) from Ganduje resettlement city at Dawaki Tofa and those at the Kano city, as a measure to ease their economic burdens and also to support them towards becoming self-reliance and independent.

Speaking during the empowerment programme held at Dan-Itace village, of Ganduje town in Dawakin Tofa Local Government area of Kano state, the Field Coordinator and Kano Field Officer, Hajiya Lubah Liman, said the empowerment initiative is as the result of the continued commitment and unwavering dedication of the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the purposeful leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the supportive efforts of the Vice President Kashim Shettima to ensure that those at the IDPs are not left out because they are also Nigerians.

She explained that the commission under the NCFRMI Federal Commissioner, Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed, has continued to drive impactful programs like this across the nation to ease IDPs stress as well as to encourage them to pick up life a fresh.

“We are here today at Ganduje Resettlement Centre in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State, to officially present 30 pumping machines, 70 sprayers,, 60 chemical containers (Pesticides and Herbicides), Shoes, and some writing material, to 150 beneficiaries as way of encouraging them to be self-reliant to improve their livelihood,” she said.

 

She added that this empowerment intervention and distribution of items, is a sign of hope, inclusion, and of a collective effort to rebuild lives, restore dignity, and promote lasting resilience in communities.
She urged all the beneficiaries to make the best use of these items, not only for their personal growth, but to inspire and uplift others around them.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malama Hadiza Abubakar, said the gesture by the commission is indeed timely and will go along way in shaping the lives of the IDPs. He expressed gratitude to the commission for what is e termed as a time saving gesture extended to the IDPs.
