Revival on the Horizon: Ajaokuta Steel Plant Set for Resurgence

The Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has announced that the federal government is making significant progress in its efforts to revitalise the dormant Ajaokuta steel company located in Kogi State.

During a recent gathering with stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his residence in Ogbonicha, Audu revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to facilitate this revival.

He further indicated that the government is actively seeking private investors from China to bolster investments in the steel plant, marking a crucial advancement in its recovery.

“We’re undertaking remarkable work. This journey has begun, and we anticipate delivering results for Ajaokuta swiftly,” Audu stated.

He highlighted that this initiative reflects the ambitious reforms and developmental efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the past two years, aimed at boosting the economy through steel production.

The minister reiterated the President’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s urgent challenges, enhancing citizens’ welfare, and ensuring the benefits of democracy are felt nationwide.

He noted the positive effects of the “Renewed Hope” agenda, pointing to recent decreases in the prices of essential food items.

“In just two years, Mr. President has demonstrated significant political will and dedication to transforming Nigeria. State FAAC allocations have risen notably, benefiting Kogi State directly,” Audu remarked.

Additionally, Mr. Joshua Onoja, the State Secretary of the APC, praised the Minister for organising the meeting and reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for President Tinubu’s re-election, assuring that the Kogi APC remains united in its commitment to his success.

The APC stakeholders’ meeting was attended by party leaders, including Executive Chairmen, stalwarts, Local Government Chairmen and Secretaries, Councilors from Kogi East, and representatives from Kogi Central and West, along with a large gathering of enthusiastic supporters.
