Rio Ferdinand Faces Backlash for Biased Man Utd Commentary

Rio Ferdinand is facing intense criticism for his commentary during Manchester United’s thrilling 5-4 comeback win against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals.

The former Manchester United player, who was commentating for TNT Sports, struggled to contain his emotions as the Red Devils scored three goals in the last six minutes to turn the tie around.

Viewers took to social media to express their disappointment with Ferdinand’s biased commentary. “TNT Sports should sack Rio Ferdinand ASAP,” Liverpool supporter @Rizy_LFC posted. “The guy is so blatantly biased towards Man United, absolute disgrace.”

Other fans shared similar sentiments, with @josh_bfc from Brentford saying, “One of the great European moments utterly ruined by the f****** atrocity of Robbie Savage and Rio Ferdinand. TNT Sports needs to liquidate.”

Aston Villa supporter @KellandMatt slammed Ferdinand, stating, “Rio Ferdinand is the worst commentator going. Add Robbie Savage next to him and it’s absolutely disgraceful. [TNT Sports] have to do something about it ffs!”

Some fans questioned Ferdinand’s neutrality, with @DaveHo1mes asking, “Am I alone in thinking that the commentators should be neutral? This is more like MUTV.” @Villafanmike also noted, “He clearly has a bias. Before the game, at [half time] and at the end, of course you have greats from the club to discuss the game – but it’s so bad if you’re the opposition or a neutral. It sounded like MUTV for most of the game.”

Metro’s Sports Reporter Liam Grace shared a similar opinion, saying Ferdinand’s analysis “is generally basic and lacks any real substance whatsoever”.

Ferdinand has previously responded to criticism, shutting down a Liverpool fan who accused him of bias during a Champions League match against PSG. “Morning Craig. I wasn’t on the gantry when Liverpool scored,” he replied.
