The Nigeria Customs Service has appointed Comptroller Adebola Salawu as the new head of its Lagos Industrial Area Command.
The appointment was announced on the Service’s official X account, confirming that Salawu replaces Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, who recently retired after years of service.
The handover ceremony took place at the Command’s headquarters in Festac Town and was confirmed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Superintendent Juliana Tomo.
Wadinda, who left office after a long career, was commended for her leadership and for carrying out several corporate social responsibility projects. During her time in charge, Festac Senior Grammar School benefited from facilities such as a water treatment plant, an e-library, a photocopier, and improved toilet facilities, all made possible with the support of stakeholders in the community.
In her closing remarks, Wadinda thanked the Customs leadership for the opportunity to serve and encouraged officers to support her successor.
Salawu, on his part, promised to continue the work of his predecessor while improving excise operations in the command. He called on officers to work closely with him in adopting the newly introduced Unified Customs Management System, known as B’Odogwu. He also stressed the importance of regular training and closer collaboration with stakeholders to strengthen excise performance and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
