The Kogi State Government has approved and released the payment of March salaries to civil servants ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebration.
Governor Usman Ododo approved the early payment to enable workers to prepare for the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.
Fanwo said the decision reflects the administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of workers, particularly during important religious celebrations.
The early payment reflects the administration’s consistent commitment to prioritising the welfare of workers and ensuring that members of the state’s workforce are adequately supported, especially during important religious festivities,” the commissioner stated.
According to him, feedback from civil servants across the state indicated appreciation for the gesture, which he said would help workers make preparations for the Sallah celebration.
“The Kogi State Government assures the workforce that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo will continue to place a high premium on workers’ welfare as the dedicated and dependable civil service continues to deliver quality services to the good people of Kogi State,” he added.
Fanwo also wished Muslims a successful Ramadan and a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the Muslim fasting period of Ramadan, is expected to be observed next week Friday, subject to the sighting of the moon.
