By Abasi Ita

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, has commended the NDDC Board and Management for their renewed commitment to completing legacy projects across the Niger Delta region.

Speaking during the commissioning of the NDDC Delta State Office Complex in Warri, Senator Ekpenyong applauded the leadership of the Commission for delivering on President Bola Tinubu’s directive to revive and complete long-abandoned infrastructure. He urged the Board not to relent in its efforts to bring sustainable development closer to the people.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who officially commissioned the edifice, described the project as a milestone in Delta’s development journey and a symbol of partnership between the state government and the NDDC. He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Commission on key projects, particularly the Omadino–Warri–Escravos Road, to enhance connectivity and economic growth.

The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, also praised the NDDC for aligning with the “Renewed Hope” agenda by completing vital projects across the region, including roads, bridges, and power installations. He announced that the Federal Government was reviewing proposals for new infrastructure collaborations with Delta State.

NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, described the commissioning as part of the Commission’s ongoing effort to institutionalize its presence across all Niger Delta states. He said the Delta office is the third to be completed, following those in Cross River and Bayelsa States, and reaffirmed the NDDC’s commitment to partnerships that improve livelihoods and promote sustainable regional growth.

Also in attendance were NDDC Board Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, and Executive Directors Alabo Boma Iyaye, Dr. Victor Antai, and Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, alongside members of the National Assembly and other dignitaries who lauded the Commission’s renewed focus on transparency and performance.
