The Southern Youth Movement (SYM) has thrown its weight behind Seyi Tinubu’s 2027 Lagos governorship bid, highlighting his digital expertise and innovative leadership as vital for the state’s growth.
In a statement on Thursday, SYM’s National President, High Chief Promise Lawuru, praised Tinubu for his forward-thinking ideas, youth advocacy, and leadership acumen, which the group believes will transform Lagos into a global innovation hub.
“Seyi Tinubu is smart, hardworking, and embodies the digital experience Lagos needs to expand and evolve,” the statement read.
SYM credited Tinubu’s efforts in encouraging youth participation in governance, including advocating for under-40 appointments in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. They described his vision as the perfect blend of digital innovation and strategic development, urging Lagosians to focus on his competence rather than his family background.
Dismissing concerns over his ties to President Tinubu, the group emphasized that the constitution permits Seyi Tinubu to run. SYM further pledged to advocate for youth leadership across southern states while seeking elder statesmen’s advisory support.
“Governance in this digital age demands innovative minds, and Seyi Tinubu is the right person to lead Lagos into this new era,” SYM concluded.
The endorsement marks a significant milestone in Tinubu’s governorship campaign as Lagosians look ahead to the 2027 elections.
