Shock in Arepo: Retired AIG’s Wife Kidnapped in Daring Late-Night Ambush

In a chilling turn of events, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu was abducted by four armed, hooded men on Thursday night. The incident, which occurred near her residence in the Orange Estate area of Arepo, Ogun State, has left the community shaken.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as harrowing. At around 9:55 p.m., as Mrs. Odumosu approached her home in a Lexus SUV, the armed assailants intercepted her vehicle. Forcing her out of the car, they whisked her away through swampy terrain to an undisclosed location.

Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the abduction and detailed the rapid response by law enforcement. “The Divisional Police Officer led a team to the scene and coordinated efforts with local security groups in the riverine areas,” Odutola said. State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has also deployed covert and digital intelligence teams to ensure the victim’s safe return.

The abduction has raised concerns about the security of the Arepo area, which has seen similar threats in the past. It also underscores the vulnerability of high-profile individuals and their families, even in supposed safe zones.

Retired AIG Odumosu, a celebrated officer known for his tough stance on crime during his tenure as Lagos State Commissioner of Police, is yet to comment on the incident. A decorated officer with over three decades of service, his career spanned numerous leadership roles, including as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos and as Area Commander in various states.

As the search for Mrs. Odumosu intensifies, residents of Arepo remain on edge, awaiting updates on this high-profile case.
