The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Edet Otu, has described his emergence as Silverbird’s ‘Man of the Year’ as more than a ceremonial honour, stating that it represents a renewed responsibility to serve the people of Cross River with stronger dedication.
He said the recognition belongs to the resilient and industrious people of the state, to whom he proudly dedicated the award.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Eko Hotel and Suites, the governor expressed sincere gratitude to the Silverbird Group for the honour. He noted that receiving such recognition from a respected media organisation carries deep meaning and significance.
Governor Otu clarified that he does not regard the award as a personal triumph. Instead, he explained that it reflects the shared sacrifices, commitment, and consistent support of Cross Riverians, whose resilience continues to drive his administration’s efforts.
The event was attended by members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, local government chairmen, and other key officials. The governor commended his team for their loyalty and contributions toward advancing the state’s development goals.
He further acknowledged that national recognition comes with heightened expectations. According to him, greater visibility requires greater accountability and stronger results. He described the award as an encouragement to intensify efforts toward delivering tangible progress.
Reaffirming his administration’s “People First” policy and “Season of Sweetness” vision, Governor Otu stressed ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening Cross River’s economic competitiveness. He maintained that the state remains a leading destination for investment and tourism in Nigeria and pledged continued alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The governor also extended appreciation to Silverbird Group Chairman, Ben Murray-Bruce, assuring that Cross River State will persist in its pursuit of excellence and meaningful national growth.
