Kaduna, Nigeria A mild drama reportedly occurred at ShopRite Kaduna yesterday when a Nigerian soldier allegedly abandoned his girlfriend during a birthday outing, citing what he described as her “unreasonable and excessive demands.”
According to information gathered by our media team, the soldier, who has been in a four-year relationship with the lady, said he could no longer cope with her level of financial expectations. He explained that on her own birthday months earlier, he took her out, purchased a fairly used iPhone for her, and met almost all her requests for that day.
However, on the occasion of his own birthday yesterday, tensions rose after the couple visited ShopRite following his work hours. The soldier claimed the lady began making demands “far beyond” what he could afford. Overwhelmed by frustration, he allegedly left the premises on his motorcycle, abandoning her at the mall.
The soldier further told our media team that he had reached his limit, adding jokingly that any man interested in the lady could “go to ShopRite and continue from where he stopped.”
The girlfriend, when contacted, expressed shock at the incident. She reportedly stated that she did not understand how she ended up dating a soldier whose “annual salary cannot even afford a car.”
The situation has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating issues of financial pressure, relationship expectations, and the emotional strain placed on military personnel.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
