In response to the ongoing #EndBadGovernment protests, the Solidarity Empowerment Initiative, a non-governmental organization, has expressed its desire to partner with the federal government to address the pressing issue of hunger in Nigeria. The group aims to provide a lasting solution to the biting hunger and starvation affecting millions of Nigerians.
In a statement signed by Joseph Dominion, the National Empowerment Mobilization Officer, the group indicated that it has a proven model that can be replicated nationwide to empower over one million Nigerians. “We believe that by leveraging existing structures and resources, we can empower over one million Nigerians across the country to achieve self-sufficiency at a minimal cost,” Dominion said.
According to Dominion, the initiative’s approach focuses on cost-effective solutions that can help alleviate hunger and starvation nationwide. “Driving sustainable development requires cost-effective solutions that will alleviate both hunger and starvation across Nigeria. We have a model that works, and we are willing to collaborate with the government to scale it up,” he added.
The group emphasized that while protests are a constitutional right, constructive engagement with government at all levels is crucial to addressing economic challenges. “We must work together to drive sustainable development and find solutions to the hunger crisis. We cannot afford to continue with the status quo, and we believe that our initiative offers a viable solution,” Dominion said.
Despite President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast on Sunday, the Hunger Protests continued in some parts of the country. The Solidarity Empowerment Initiative remains committed to seeking a collaborative solution to empower Nigerians and address the pressing issue of hunger.
The group’s proposal includes training and capacity-building programs for beneficiaries, as well as support for small-scale agricultural projects and micro-enterprises. By empowering individuals and communities, the initiative aims to reduce dependence on government handouts and create a more sustainable food security system.
As the Hunger Protests continue, the Solidarity Empowerment Initiative’s call for collaboration offers a glimmer of hope for a more constructive approach to addressing Nigeria’s hunger crisis.
