
President Donald Trump has announced that the suspect in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is believed to be in custody. Trump said he was confident “with a high degree of certainty” that the individual responsible has been apprehended.
Multiple sources familiar with the case also confirmed to CNN that a person is being questioned in connection with the killing.
Press briefing: State and federal authorities are expected to hold a joint news conference at 9 a.m. ET today.
New evidence: Investigators released surveillance footage showing the suspect fleeing the scene. Separately, CNN obtained video of a man matching the suspect’s description walking through a residential area near the crime scene before the attack.
