Polish officials reported that debris from what appeared to be a Russian drone fell into a corn field near the village of Osiny on Wednesday.
No injuries were recorded.Authorities said local police discovered charred fragments of metal and plastic, along with a crater about six meters wide.
Polish media shared images showing a damaged engine and propeller.
Early findings suggest the wreckage came from a Russian-made version of the Iranian-designed Shahed drone, widely deployed by Moscow in its war against Ukraine.
According to General Dariusz Malinowski, the drone was an unarmed decoy carrying a self-destruct warhead.
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz described the incident as another act of provocation by Russia, noting its timing as international talks on Ukraine continue.
Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski denounced the incident as a violation of Polish airspace and confirmed that Warsaw will lodge a formal protest.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, several similar airspace breaches have unsettled Poland, a NATO and EU member state.
