The APC candidate in the 2023 governorship election in Taraba State, Chief David Kente, has marked his 60th birthday with two significant acts of kindness. As part of his celebrations, Kente paid the fines of 15 inmates, securing their freedom from prison.
“Some of them are just minor offences,” Kente explained. “Why do you keep a person there who’s fine is just small and because he didn’t have it?” He not only paid their fines but also provided transport money for the inmates to return to their home states, some of which were as far as Kano and Lagos.
This gesture is not an isolated incident, as Kente revealed that he has been involved in similar acts of kindness for years, resulting in over 80 people regaining their freedom.
In another display of generosity, Kente built and donated a N20 million residential accommodation to his childhood friend, Mr. Ibrahim Ezra. “I felt honored to give back to families, friends, and wishes, especially today that it is my anniversary,” Kente said.
Ezra, the recipient of the residential accommodation, expressed his gratitude, stating that it was the happiest day of his life. “I have been embarrassed many times by landlords because of rent,” he shared. “My wife had built a house and left me. Now I hear she is lobbying seriously to stage a comeback. Just because childhood friend and brother has bailed me out.”
