Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering a business-friendly environment to stimulate economic growth in the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Hon. Peter George, the Governor made this statement during the commissioning of the Gwari Sellers Market in Jalingo.
“We are committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish through infrastructure development, investment-friendly policies, and entrepreneurship empowerment,” said George.
He emphasized the state’s vision to transform Taraba into an economic powerhouse and called for collective efforts to ensure the success of the new market.
The newly established Gwari Sellers Market, a hub for trading perishable goods such as tomatoes and onions, is part of the state government’s broader strategy to promote inclusivity, economic empowerment, and sustainable development.
“This market is more than a trading hub; it is a beacon of hope for countless families and businesses,” George noted, urging stakeholders to make it a model of economic excellence.
Governor Kefas lauded the efforts of the Gwari Sellers Association in bringing the market to fruition, describing their unity and proactive steps as inspirational.
He also acknowledged the leadership of Jalingo Local Government Chairman and ALGON State Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Jauro Hassan, for supporting local development initiatives.
Hassan, represented by Deputy Chairman Hon. Nathaniel Peter Ntani, praised the Governor for creating a secure and peaceful environment conducive to business growth.
He called on residents to support traders and maintain peace, emphasizing the market’s potential to drive economic progress.
Alhaji Abdallah Tijani, Chairman of the Gwari Sellers Association, expressed gratitude to the state government and local authorities for providing land and support for the market’s relocation, citing the need for a larger, better-organized space.
Local leaders, including Kona Ward Councillor, applauded Governor Kefas for prioritizing security and development in the area. “This market will significantly benefit our people and enhance economic activities,” he remarked.
The Gwari Sellers Market represents a vital step toward achieving the administration’s goal of transforming Taraba State into a hub of opportunities and prosperity.
