Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has approved the establishment of a Joint Technical Committee to enhance Sugar Development in the State.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yusufu Sanda, made available to SUMMIT POST in Jalingo, said that the 23-member committee will be Chaired by Hon. Jethro Yakubu Zikyengyu and will include representatives from government agencies, the private sector, farmers, community leaders, and traditional rulers.
According to the statement Abel Bako Joachim from the Ministry of Agriculture will serve as the Secretary.
The Committee’s terms of reference include, among other objectives, the facilitation and promotion of the sugar industry, engaging stakeholders in relevant areas, developing a comprehensive sugar development plan, identifying suitable locations for sugar processing, and mobilising funding, equipment, and expertise for sugar development in the State.
The statement added that activities of the Committee will be coordinated by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Jeji Williams, and has three months to submit its report and recommendations to the Government.
