Taraba Philanthropist, Dr. David Sabo, Celebrates 61st birthday, Reach Out to the Vulnerable Groups

By Emmanuel Awari-Jalingo

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and renowned Philanthropist Chief Dr. David Sabo Kente as part of activities to mark his 61st birthday, has reached out to several vulnerable groups both in Nigeria and other African countries, sparking a celebration with funfair.

The Chairman of DSK foundation spread his tentacles and shifted from the traditional mega party at a specific location, to reach out, through his foundation and friends, to many groups including orphanages, prisons and people with disabilities.

When a man’s life is defined by service, his birthday becomes more than a personal milestone — it becomes a celebration of impact.

Such was the atmosphere as Chief Dr David Sabo Kente (DSK), fondly described as a pillar of compassion and unity, marked his 61st birthday with a wave of humanitarian outreach and grand celebrations stretching across Nigeria and beyond.

In Jalingo, the DSK Foundation turned the occasion into a day of giving, visiting Alheri and UMCN Orphanage Homes with bags of rice, spaghetti, cooking oil, toiletries and other essential supplies and cash donations.

Smiles lit up the faces of children and caregivers as prayers flowed freely for the celebrant, whom many called a dependable benefactor who never forgets the vulnerable.

At the Jalingo Correctional Centre, inmates received similar support. In an emotional moment, one inmate disclosed that they had composed a song in honour of DSK in appreciation of his consistent generosity.

“He has not abandoned us,” the inmate said, offering prayers for long life, strength and greater prosperity for the philanthropist.

The Jalingo Central Mosque echoed with special prayers as the Chief Imam Mallam Nuru Dinga described DSK as “a bridge-builder and beacon of interfaith harmony.”

According to the cleric, the celebrant’s open-handed support cuts across religious and ethnic lines, reflecting a rare spirit of unity.

In Wukari, his hometown, the birthday glow was equally radiant. Inmates at the Wukari Correctional Centre benefitted from food donations, while students of MECAPACYNTH International Academy were treated to food, drinks and merriment in celebration of a man many see as a source of inspiration.

As night fell, Wukari and Kente, his village of birth, came alive with music, dancing and tributes from friends and associates who gathered for an all-night celebration in honour of a man they described as humble, accessible and deeply connected to his roots.

It was also an all night jamboree as friends and associates of Chief Dr David Sabo Kente celebrated his 61 birthday drinking and dancing at Wukari town and Kente his village of birth.

In Jalingo, journalists and associates convened at the NUJ Press Centre in a show of solidarity and appreciation, applauding his longstanding support for community causes and media development.

The celebration reverberated far beyond Taraba State. In Lagos, Abuja and Jos, friends and associates hosted receptions in his honour, while in The Gambia and Ghana, supporters gathered to celebrate what they called “a man whose generosity knows no borders.”

Across continents, the message was consistent: Chief, Dr. David Sabo Kente at 61 remains a symbol of compassion, grassroots leadership and unwavering commitment to humanity.

As goodwill messages continue to pour in, admirers pray that the years ahead bring him greater strength, expanded influence and even more opportunities to touch lives.

For many, the verdict is clear — DSK at 61 is not just a birthday celebrant but a living testament to the power of giving.
