The Chairman of the Taraba State Procurement Audit Committee (PAC), Mr. Assemboh Tanko Shamaki, has dismissed allegations that the procurement audit exercise is aimed at victimizing or witch-hunting Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
In an interview with SUMMIT POST News, Mr. Shamaki emphasized that the exercise is intended to “get the records straight” and ensure compliance with the Taraba State Public Procurement Law 2012.
He cited Section 8 (d) of the law, which mandates the Bureau to audit all procurement transactions of MDAs to prevent violations.

Mr. Shamaki, who is also the Director General of the Taraba State Bureau of Public Procurement, noted that many MDAs have failed to maintain proper records of their procurement processes, particularly for items within their thresholds.
He explained that the exercise is necessary to update these records and ensure that all procurement transactions are certified by the Bureau.
“The exercise is not intended to witch-hunt or victimize anyone,” Mr. Shamaki stressed. “We urge all heads of MDAs to cooperate with us to update their records.”
