American Grammy Award-winning pop star Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce have announced their engagement after two years together.
The news took social media by storm as the celebrity couple shared their engagement in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, showing the Kansas City Chiefs star proposing to Swift and embracing her in a beautifully decorated garden.
The post was captioned, ‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married’.
The couple’s relationship kicked off in 2023 when the ‘Love Story’ crooner showed up to a Kansas City Chiefs game to support the tight-end footballer, with the pair making headlines for their numerous public appearances together to become one of the most talked-about celebrity romances of recent years, with the world of music and sport coming together.
Swift’s surprise lyric change in her tour performance of Karma, chiming, “Karma is the guy in the Chiefs, coming straight home to me.”
The couple’s kiss after Kelce’s 2024 Super Bowl LVIII win quickly became one of the year’s biggest pop culture moments.
More recently, they appeared together on New Heights, a podcast hosted by Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, to announce Swift’s upcoming 12th studio album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, which is set to be released in October.
The episode broke records, drawing 1.3 million concurrent viewers on YouTube and later surpassing 20 million total views.
The rumours intensified last month when fans spotted a lock-screen photo on Kelce’s phone that appeared to show Swift flashing a ring on her finger.
Congratulatory messages have since poured in from across the worlds of music, sport, and politics. Even U.S. President Donald Trump praised the couple and wished them the best.
“He’s a great player. I think he’s a great guy,” said Mr Trump. “I think she’s a terrific person. I wish them a lot of luck.”
