
Police in Anambra State have arrested three young men accused of attacking a commercial tricycle operator and stealing his vehicle.
The suspects were apprehended on Monday in Awarasi Village, Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, and a stolen tricycle was recovered from them.
According to the command’s spokesperson, the arrest followed a distress call from Isuaniocha Bridge in Awka North, where the robbery took place. The tricycle operator had been attacked by armed men who took away his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH. Police officers from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad responded quickly, rescuing the victim and taking him to a hospital where he is receiving treatment.
Through intelligence tracking, operatives traced the suspects to their hideout in Uga. When the police team arrived, the men attempted to flee but were chased down and captured. The stolen tricycle was also recovered during the operation.
The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Kosisochukwu Nweke, 24-year-old Emmanuel Eze, and 20-year-old Osondu Ifeanyi. Police authorities confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to uncover more details about their activities. Once completed, the suspects will be charged in court.
