Toyota is investing a staggering $10 billion in the construction of a new city in Japan, dubbed the “Woven City.” Located at the base of Mount Fuji, this futuristic metropolis will serve as a hub for innovation and sustainability.
“The city will be a place where people can live, work, and play in a unique and sustainable way,” said Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota Motor Corporation. “We want to create a city that is not only environmentally friendly but also a place where people can thrive and be happy.”
The Woven City will be built on a 175-acre site and will feature a range of cutting-edge technologies, including autonomous vehicles, robotics, and artificial intelligence. The city will also incorporate green spaces, parks, and a network of underground tunnels and roads.
“We’re not just building a city, we’re building a community,” said Shigeki Tomoyama, Chief Engineer of the Woven City project. “We want to create a place where people can live in harmony with nature and with each other.”
The city is expected to be completed by 2025 and will initially be home to around 2,000 residents, including Toyota employees, their families, and other innovators. The city will also feature a range of amenities, including shops, restaurants, and entertainment facilities.
“This is not just a project for Toyota, it’s a project for Japan and for the world,” said Toyoda. “We believe that the Woven City will be a model for sustainable urban development and a beacon of innovation for generations to come.”
