A joyful wedding day turned into a heartbreaking tragedy in Boto, Bauchi State, when a car accident claimed the lives of the groom, Abba Musa, and the bride’s sister, Maryam Suleiman, just moments before the ceremony.
The victims were traveling from Murno, a nearby community, to the wedding venue when the accident occurred. Witnesses described the scene as devastating, with the news spreading quickly and leaving the entire community in deep sorrow.
Saminu Boto, the groom’s brother, confirmed the tragic event, stating that the atmosphere in the town had shifted from celebration to mourning. The families of the deceased were overwhelmed with grief, especially the bride, Raihanatu Suleiman, who lost both her future husband and sister on what was meant to be the happiest day of her life.
Both victims were buried shortly after the accident in accordance with Islamic rites. Residents of Boto are still struggling to process the shocking loss, calling it one of the saddest days in recent memory.
