Transparency, data integration critical to balancing priorities in manufacturing– Expert

Mr Olatunde Ojo, a Logistic and Supply Chain operational expert, says transparency and data integration are critical to balancing priorities in manufacturing and supply chains.
Ojo made this submission in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said that prioritising transparency and data integration as well as investing in systems and tools that provided real-time insights into operations was of utmost importance in achieving balancing in manufacturing and supply chains.
Ojo, who is also an expert in the pesticide and agricultural chemical industry, said his team worked between the manufacturing, sales and distribution chain for enhanced efficiency.
He said that driving innovation and societal impact required a blend of creativity, technical expertise and a clear focus on outcomes.
Ojo said he had consistently worked to optimise manufacturing processes to achieve operational efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvements.
“For example, in the pesticide and agricultural chemical formulation industry, I implemented advanced ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
“This resulted in a 25 per cent increase in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and exceptional quality indices, including 98 per cent PQI and 100 per cent CQI.’’
He added that safety was another critical area to consider in balancing priorities in the manufacturing and supply chains.
“Safety is another critical area; I have cultivated a culture of compliance with GMP, GHK, and 5S standards, which has ensured zero Lost Time Accidents (LTAs) in our operations.
“These measures not only improve workplace conditions but also have a direct positive impact on the community by minimising environmental risks and enhancing product safety.
“Enhancing societal welfare goes hand-in-hand with sustainable practices.
“I have worked on initiatives that reduced costs and waste while contributing to broader social goals, such as using bio-based polyols in manufacturing.’’
He, however, noted that balancing the priorities was one of the most dynamic and critical aspects of supply chain management.
“Each stakeholder, manufacturing, sales and distributors, have unique goals and aligning them required clear communication, data-driven planning and collaborative leadership,’’ he said.
