Two young men were reportedly killed in separate suspected cult-related attacks in Lagos over the weekend.
The incidents, which happened in Lakowe’s Orita Adeba area and Sangotedo, have left residents living in fear as clashes among rival groups continue to spread across Ibeju-Lekki and its surroundings.
The first killing took place on Saturday in Lakowe, where a young man was attacked with machetes. His body was later found by the roadside near Lakowe Bus Stop. Witnesses said his wrist had been cut off, a sign that the killing was linked to ongoing reprisal clashes between rival groups.
Residents explained that violent attacks have become frequent in the community in recent weeks. Several deaths have been recorded, with young men being ambushed and hacked to death as rival groups fight to settle scores. The latest incident added to growing concerns that the violence is spiraling out of control and putting innocent residents at risk.
On the same day, another young man was discovered dead near a culvert in the Sangotedo area. Videos shared online showed his body in a pool of blood by the roadside, dressed in a white vest and black trousers. Although the motive behind the second killing is not yet confirmed, many in the community believe it is also linked to the ongoing cult clashes in the region.
Security sources said investigations into both killings are ongoing, but as of Sunday evening, no official police statement had been issued. Meanwhile, fear continues to grip residents of Ibeju-Lekki, where cult-related clashes have claimed several lives in recent weeks.
