The University of Ibadan (UI) has directed 226 undergraduate students to withdraw from their programmes due to unsatisfactory academic performance.
The decision follows a meeting of the university’s Senate last Monday, during which the results of the 2024/2025 academic session for both graduating and non-graduating students were ratified. Students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.0 were specifically advised to discontinue their studies.
Affected students will no longer have access to the school’s registration portal, effectively barring them from continuing their courses.
The withdrawals span all levels, from 100 to 500, and cut across multiple faculties. The Faculty of Science had the highest number of students asked to leave, with 79, followed by Technology (45) and Agriculture (35).
Other faculties affected include: College of Medicine – 18 students, Faculty of Education – 18 students, Renewable, Natural Resources – 10 students, Faculty of Arts – 9 students, Economics and Management Sciences – 4 students, Faculty of Law – 3 students, Veterinary Medicine – 2 students, and Environmental Design and Management – 3 students.
