UNICAL Suspends Nine Students Over Exam Malpractice, Forged Results

The management of University of Calabar has approved the suspension of nine students for their alleged involvement in examination malpractice and the submission of fake academic results.

The decision was reached at the institution’s 252nd Senate meeting after reports were presented by the Ad-Hoc Senate Committee on Examination Malpractice and the Senate Students Disciplinary Committee.

 

According to the findings, five students were caught inside the examination hall with unauthorized materials and four others were found to have submitted forged results to the university.

 

After reviewing the reports and recommendations of the committees, the management resolved that the affected students should be suspended for two academic sessions and the suspension will take effect from the 2024/2025 academic year.

 

In a letter signed by the Registrar, Dr Chukwuka I Icha, the university confirmed that those suspended include Akwuba Enestina of 300 Level Pharmacy, Udom Bomfon Iboro of 300 Level Pharmacy, Nwankwo Daniel N of 200 Level Pharmacy, Ore Kolade Israel of 500 Level Pharmacy, Chisom Modestus Ejafa of 500 Level Pharmacy, Lazarus Victoria Ebogo of the Department of Home Economics in the Faculty of Vocational Entrepreneurial Education, Ele Tina Godwin of the Department of Zoology Environmental Biology in the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Ofem Favour Patrick of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology in the Faculty of Biological Sciences, and Makailu Nelly Pamilo of the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies in the Faculty of Arts.

 

The management also directed the Heads of Departments and the Deans of the affected faculties and the Acting Chief Security Officer to ensure full compliance with the suspension order.
