A US air strike in Yemen’s Hudaydah province has left 50,000 people without access to clean water, according to the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV.
The attack reportedly hit a drinking water tank in Al-Sanif village and damaged a water facility in the Mansouriyah district, disrupting water supplies across eight rural villages.
Local media aired footage of the aftermath, showing significant damage to the water facility. The strike is part of ongoing US military operations in Yemen, which have intensified in recent weeks.
On Tuesday, the Houthis reported that four people were killed and three injured in another round of US air strikes in Hudaydah. Additional strikes targeted Hajjah province, though no casualties were confirmed. According to Yemen’s Health Ministry, at least 61 civilians have been killed and 139 wounded in US-led attacks since mid-March.
The US launched military action against the Houthis after the group began targeting commercial and Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The attacks started in November 2023 as an act of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where Israeli airstrikes have killed over 50,000 people. The Houthis briefly paused operations during a ceasefire in January but resumed after Israel restarted its military campaign in Gaza.
The situation remains tense, with both sides continuing to engage in military operations, further worsening Yemen’s humanitarian crisis.
